You've probably tried all kinds of products from different brands, but nothing works for your curls. Your curls are frizzy and you don't really know what to do about it. Do you recognize this? Then the CG method definitely something for you!

The core of the CG Method

Lorraine Massey, has developed the CG method especially for people with curly hair (also called the Curly Girl Method† The core of this method is to stop washing your curls with shampoo and other hair products that contain silicones, sulfates, mineral oils, wax and drying alcohol. Finally, in addition to using the right hair products, the CG method also prescribes certain ways to wash, dry and style your hair.

Certain ingredients put a layer around your hair so that your curls do not get air and it therefore dries out and starts to fluff. Many of these bad ingredients are in hair products that you can get for example at standard drugstores or even at: hairdressers. Within the CG Method, it is therefore the intention that you avoid products with these ingredients. So you only goCG-Proofusing products for your curls.

How do I start with the CG Method?

Now you may be thinking, how do I get started with the CG Method? That is actually very simple. It is important that you hair properties is going to find out. Why? Curls come in different shapes and sizes. So for one 'curly girl' a certain product works and for another not. Your hair characteristics are therefore very important to get beautiful curls!

Before you start with the method, you will find out your hair characteristics.

Before you start 'really' and therefore only use CG-proof products (so only with the right ingredients), you do a final wash. This is a one-time wash, after which you only use CG-proof products. You use a final wash with sulfates to remove product residue from your curls as much as possible.

The right products

There are different types of hair care that the CG method prescribes. In addition to shampoo and conditioner, you also use a nourishing mask once a week. In addition, you also use a leave-in (to moisturize your hair during the day), a gel and possibly a cream. Below is an overview of the basic products:

  1. Final-wash
  2. Mask
  3. Shampoo (of: Cleanser)
  4. Conditioner
  5. Leave-in
  6. Gel
