What to do about frizzy curls?

How do you prevent frizzy hair ? It is perhaps one of our most frequently asked questions. A little frizz is okay with curls, but if you have a lot of frizz, we understand that you want to do something about it.

Frizzy hair can be caused by various things. In this blog we give you several tips. Try them all. This way you get to know your curls and you know what suits you and what doesn't. It is also wise to try certain tips several times.

Tips to prevent frizzy hair

Tip 1: Use a gel!

Are you not yet using gel in your routine? Then that is definitely something to do. A gel will harden on your hair, which can prevent frizzy hair. It puts a kind of layer around your hair. The hold level of a gel does not matter for frizzy hair. It is important that you use at least one gel within your routine.

Tip 2: Use a hair mask regularly

Adding a hair mask to your routine can help with frizzy hair. Hair masks help nourish, repair and protect your hair. Do you have finer hair or do you have looser curls (wavy)? Then you can try a dirty deep co .

Tip 3: Use a conditioner after your shampoo

Always use a conditioner (or mask) after using a shampoo. Always let it sit for a while so that your hair can absorb the conditioner properly. If necessary, connect your conditioner to the same brand of shampoo.

Tip 4: Don't brush your hair dry

Always make sure you have a conditioner, mask or leave-in in your hair when brushing. It is most convenient to do this while washing. There are different types of brushes, through this collection you will find a clear collection of must-have brushes.

Tip 5: Exchange your products

Do you feel like your conditioner or mask is no longer doing much for your hair? Then it's time to switch conditioner and/or mask. We have a travel size of at least 60ML from most brands. This gives you the opportunity to properly test the conditioner. Within the collections you can filter by size.

Tip 6: Divide your hair into sections when styling

Do you feel like one part of your hair looks better than the other parts? Then you may have missed a number of parts during styling. You can solve this with the handy alligator section clips . With these clamps you can easily divide your hair and when styling you can be sure that you grab all parts of your hair properly!

Also use a water spray to thoroughly moisten each section before applying the products. Have you covered all the sections? Then bring your hair forward and scrunch a little bit of gel into it!

Tip 7: Go to the hairdresser!

Has it been a while since you went to the hairdresser (longer than 3/4 months?). Then a visit to the hairdresser can certainly do wonders to freshen up your hair.

Tip 8: Try a different way of styling

There are many different ways to apply products to your hair. The most well-known techniques are:

Tip 9: Avoid glycerin

Is there high humidity? Then you may want to avoid glycerin. You can read exactly how this works in this blog .

Tip 10: Sleep on satin

Do you still sleep on a cotton pillowcase? Time to switch! Because if you sleep on a satin pillowcase you prevent yourself from waking up with frizzy hair. Does this not make you sleep well? There are also other accessories available for sleeping with curls, such as a bonnet or pineapple protector .

Tip 11: Avoid Aloe Vera

It is possible that your hair does not respond well to Aloe Vera in hair products. There are women within the Curly Girl Method who therefore explicitly avoid this. This means that they use hair products that do not contain Aloe Vera. We have put together a special collection of Aloe Vera-free products for you.

Hopefully you can continue with the above tips. Try them out and start slowly. Keep a close eye on your hair and give your curls some time to get used to the tips.
